BIOGRAPHY
Antony J. Bowman is a writer, director and playwright. He is best known in Australia for his feature Paperback Hero released through Universal. He adapted the screenplay from his novel of the same name. (Penguin Books) Starring Hugh Jackman the romantic comedy was screened “In
Competition” in both the Hollywood and Milan Film Festivals.
A graduate of the London Film School, Antony began his career writing and directing several short films and acclaimed drama-documentaries – receiving the Silver Screen Award at the Chicago Film Festival and a Bronze Award at the New York Film Festival. In 2014 he won (as writer & producer) the Audience Choice Award at the BHFF in Hollywood for his short thriller, Angel Road.
With a flair for character-driven films, his other credits as writer/director include: Relatives (AWG Nomination / Best Feature Screenplay) Cappuccino, Three-Sixty (In Competition / LA Shorts, Flickerfest 2013) and the New York comedy, Blackmail, (aka Almost Broadway) which he completed for Tigertail Films in 2018. Now steaming on Amazon.
As writer & director, Antony has a number of projects slated for 2021/22. These include the Australian music-driven comedy, Paradise (produced by Prodigy Movies,) Snake River (a U.S. thriller) and Arrivederci an Australian/Italian project to star Isabella Rossellini.
Antony also writes and directs for television. He is the writer of the six-part TV series, RAMPAGE – based on the novel, MUSTH – an African thriller, and has completed directing the pilot episode for the U.S. TV comedy, Rachel – an A.I. experience!
Under commission, Antony has also just written the screenplay for Secrets Of The Southern Cross and Betrayed for Onplaya Studios in Los Angeles.
